Ettunombu
This parish has many
feasts and celebrations. The most important
feast is the titular feast of our Lady, which is
known as ‘Ettunombu’. This is celebrated
with fervent prayers and abstinence for eight
days from 1st September to 8th September, on
which day falls the feast of the Nativity of our
Blessed Mother. The solemn celebration of the
feast falls on the first Sunday after 8
September.
Feast of St. Sebastian
The next important feast is that of St.
Sebastian, which is celebrated on 20th of
January or the Sunday following that date. It is
a feast very solemnly celebrated by the parish
at large right from the house level, unit level
and parish level. Hence, it is considered a
regional festival irrespective of caste, creed,
and sex. Many Hindus and Muslims join this
celebration.
The month of October is solemnly
celebrated with rosary devotion
Christmas and Easter are celebrated with
pomp and glory with processions to all the
‘Angadies’ of the church |

For the religious revival,
the parish conducts retreats, seminars, study
classes, panel discussions, symposiums etc. |
|
 |
Yearly an annual retreat
is conducted for the whole parish in preparation
for the main feast of the parish. |
|
 |
We also conduct a paschal
retreat in the passion week of the Lenten
season. |
|
 |
To promote devotion to the
Blessed Sacrament we have a special programme
called 40 hours adoration to commemorate the
prayer and fast of 40 days of our Lord. These 40
hours is considered the most effective and
fruitful renewal programme of this parish. The
parishners invite their relatives and friends
during this passion week of the lent. |
|
 |
May devotion is a
specialty of this parish as it is a parish
devoted to Blessed Mother. |
|
 |
The parish also promotes
socio-Cultural activities for the holistic
welfare of the society. To name out a few of
them, we conduct interrelations celebrations of
the cultural feasts of this region. We also
associate with various government and voluntary
agencies for the promotion of health, education,
agriculture, cleanliness etc. we have two
special occasions for inter religious prayer and
dialogue. They are the Ramzan season and
Deepavali festival. |
