Pope Paul VI by the Bull
“Trichurensis Eparchiae” of June
22, 1978 bifurcated the Diocese
of Trichur and errected the
Diocese of Irinjalakuda as a
suffragan of Ernakulam. From
June 7, 1995 it is the suffragan
of Trichur.Mar James Pazhayattil
is its first bishop.
The northern boundary of the
Diocese is the southern boundary
of the Valappad Village,
Karanchira, Karuvannur, Kurmali
river and Mupliyam; Western
boundary: Arabian sea, Eastern
Boundary Palghat Dt. and
Tamilnadu State; Southern
boundary: Chalakudi river. |
