About the Parish Situated in the centre of Kothamangalam Taluk, St. George's Cathedral lies extended in the Varappetty and Nellikuzhi Grama Panchayats and Kothamangalam Municipality in Ernakulam District. The Episcopal ordination of Mar Mathew Pothanamuzhi, the First Bishop of the new Diocese of Kothamangalam, took place on 18th November 1956.......

Parish History To construct a market and a church in Pookottu Malampurath, Katachiraa Kurian and 22 people joined together and got the sanction from Puthusserical Valyadam, Valarakottu Kaymals and Parayckanattu Kaymals on Makaram 1st, 513 (Malayalam year). The old custom of handing over the flowers and water was followed here
